Slow Morning, Better Day

Slow Morning, Better Day

The Small Morning Routine That Gently Sets the Day's Rhythm

Living in Seoul, I’m always surprised by the amount of talk about health and well-being. New habits are constantly emerging.

Lately, the topics I hear most often are "Olive Oil and Lemon in the Morning" and "Blood Sugar Spikes (혈당 스파이크)." Both are trending, but it feels like they are being adopted less as just a fad and more as:

"A small effort to gently regulate one's mood."

🌿 Morning Olive Oil + Lemon is My "Reset Drink"

I'm not ascetic, but I love the feeling of gently waking up my foggy morning brain, so I’ve been trying this recently.

A small spoon of olive oil with a good squeeze of fresh lemon.

Honestly, the taste is less "Delicious!" (lol) and more "Ah, this tastes healthy..." But I feel a slight clench in my throat and then a slow warmth spreading through my body. It's perfect for waking up.

Instead of "doing it because it's popular," I find that if I approach it with the mindset of "creating a little quality time at the start of the day," I can surprisingly keep it up.

🍋 Why More People Are Sensitive to Blood Sugar Spikes

This is also a huge topic lately. Rapid spikes in blood sugar are said to lead to sleepiness, sluggishness, and skin issues.

The key to beauty and health is to "find ways to prevent a rapid sugar spike" after meals.

I’ve had moments where I suddenly felt sleepy after lunch and realized, "Ah, is this a blood sugar spike?" Since then, I've been slowly trying things—like eating vegetables or protein first—within a manageable scope.

🌙 You Don't Need to Aim for Perfection. Not Super, Just MARKET SUPERNOVA.

Whether it’s a morning routine or managing blood sugar, there’s a ton of information out there, but I think the final choice is simply to select "whatever I can continue happily."

Since I’m the type who gives up when I try to be perfect (lol), I approach it with a mindset of "it's okay if I forget sometimes."

Yet, even at that relaxed pace, the body and mind surprisingly respond honestly. Little by little, but surely.

☁️ Today's Summary

Morning Olive Oil + Lemon: A "gentle sip" to recenter yourself.

Be mindful of Blood Sugar Spikes (혈당 스파이크): Might slightly reduce daily sluggishness.

Sustainability: It doesn't have to be perfect; whatever you can happily sustain is OK.

The Seoul morning is slightly cool again today, but refreshing. I hope a small habit gently stays by your side on such a morning. 🫶🏻
